Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens - better popularly referred to as Queen Latifah is an American actress, rapper and a singer. The role of Queen Latifah on television, film as well as music has earned her several accolades. These include a Golden Globe Award two Screen Actors Guild Awards Two Image Awards A Grammy Award Six additional Grammy Nominations Emmy Award Nomination and an Academy Award. Queen Latifah is an Newark New Jersey native. Her parents are Lancelot Sr. as a police officer as well as Rita, a teacher of Irvington High School. The couple divorced in the year Latifah was ten. Latifah went to Catholic School in Newark, NJ and was educated through her family's Baptist Church. Latifah was the stage name she used at the time she was eight years old. It means very fragile in Arabic. Latifah has always been large, at 5'10" She was a power forward of her high-school basketball team. She sang "Home" from The Wiz in the course of a show at her highschool. Latifah started to beatbox for the Ladies Fresh. Latifah was a part of the Flavor Unit's first group, which included a variety of MCs, as well as DJ Mark 45 King.
