Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number was released in 1994. At the age of 15, the album achieved Gold recognition. R. Kelly was a key influence on the collaboration that put her in the limelight. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If Your Girl Could Only Know. With the release of this work Aaliyah gained international attention for her work as an R&B artist. Aaliyah was a part of the legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romantic film. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an awards ceremony. In 2002 she had the opportunity to appear in the vampire flick Queen of the Damned which was inspired by the Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels saw her play Zee, after appearing as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. Though she initially had small TV and movie performances, her acting began growing in popularity around the turn of the century. Her other noteworthy works include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. The actress has also been featured in major commercials for brands like Volvo which is an international automobile manufacturer. Her acting career continues with her home in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
